Australian Mining -Respect at work program cemented in mine training

Australian Mining

AUSMESA, the Australian Minerals and Energy Skills Alliance, will launch a national respect at work program for the resources industry in early 2024, following a successful pilot program delivered in partnership with Rio Tinto, BHP, and Fortescue. The program, named "Building Safe and Respectful Workplaces", aims to eliminate disrespectful behavior in the industry and will cover topics such as sexual harassment, bullying, racism, and cultural views in the workplace. The program will be evaluated based on the results of the pilot and the feedback from participants. AUSMESA is committed to providing training to all mining employees in Australia to address the issue of unacceptable sexual harassment in the industry. The program is expected to be made available to other industries in the future through various education pathways.
