Industry engagement is about how trainers and assessors maintain strong connections with the industries in which they teach, and how those connections support relevant, credible and up-to-date training delivery.

Consultation consistently reinforced that vocational credibility is foundational to effective delivery in automotive and mining contexts. Trainers and assessors emphasised the importance of maintaining industry currency, building strong employer relationships, and creating meaningful opportunities to integrate current industry practice into training and assessment. Many also identified barriers to sustaining industry engagement, particularly in regional, remote and specialist delivery contexts.
