RTO-ready tools and resources designed to reduce RPL delivery complexity.
A standardised Recognition of Prior Learning framework for mining and automotive
AUSMASA will develop a standardised RPL framework and toolkit, including guidance for RTOs and assessors, and a guide to support workers through the RPL process. The resources will be modelled on up to three training products from the RII, AUR and AUM training packages, developed through industry consultation using a co-design approach, and field-tested with RTO partners through a pilot program before broader release.
The framework will be designed to make RPL simpler for RTOs to deliver and easier for workers to access, so that experienced workers can gain formal recognition for skills they already hold. The project targets all cohorts and identifies women, First Nations people, people with disabilities, and people with low foundational skills as priority cohorts.
The project follows a two-stage process, with findings from the research stage informing development:
- Stage 1 Research and stakeholder consultation
- Stage 2 Co-design and resource development
This project commenced in July 2026 and is due for completion in October 2027
