Review and update of AURVTN120 Remove and replace major welded panels on vehicles
AUSMASA reviewed and updated AURVTN120 Remove and replace major welded panels on vehicles to resolve a longstanding ambiguity in the unit's Performance Evidence that had led to inconsistent training and assessment practices across the automotive sector.
This arose because the existing wording could reasonably be read in 2 ways: either that a learner must complete nine panel replacements across three vehicles (3 different panels on each), or that 3 replacements in total are required using at least one from a list of panel types across different vehicles. Neither reading was clearly intended, and RTOs had adopted different practices as a result.
The project clarified the Performance Evidence to make the required standard unambiguous, measurable, and aligned with current industry expectations. A new unit code, AURVTN220, has been issued as the unit supersedes and is equivalent to AURVTN120.
