Introduction to industry stewardship

As a Jobs and Skills Council, we are committed to driving the future of the mining and automotive industries through dedicated Industry Stewardship. Our mission encompasses providing strategic advice on skills and workforce needs, evaluating Vocational Education and Training (VET) system policies and standards to ensure their effectiveness, and advocating for industry interests within VET sector initiatives.

Informing policy and regulation

Through our Industry Stewardship, we aim to inform policymaking and regulation that support industry growth and competitiveness.

We identify opportunities for system-wide improvements in vocational education and training, fostering enhanced collaboration and alignment between industry stakeholders, government agencies, and educational institutions.

Our work ensures that the VET sector is responsive to the evolving needs of the mining and automotive industries, enabling them to thrive in a dynamic and competitive environment.

Latest submissions

We identify and respond to public consultations on key issues that may affect the automotive and mining industries. Our policy submissions draw on our research to provide data-driven and evidence-based insights, supplemented with a balanced range of views from industry, union, peak body, and education stakeholders represented on our Strategic Workforce Advisory Panels.
