Prioritisation: Complex. This project is categorised as Complex because it involves 3 new units of competency and 1 new skill set across 4 industry sectors. Cross-sector applicability across automotive, mobile plant, marine, and agricultural contexts requires broader stakeholder consultation than a single-sector project.
Scope
This project will consult nationally with the automotive industry to develop training products to address a critical and growing skills gap in digital diagnostic capability and vehicle network cybersecurity in the electronic control and communication systems used in modern vehicles, mobile plant, agricultural machinery, and marine equipment.
These training products will support technicians in performing mechanical repairs and interpreting the digital networks commonly found in vehicles and machinery.

Purpose: The qualification is designed to develop the skills and knowledge required by agricultural machinery technicians to diagnose, service and repair agricultural equipment and machinery used across the agricultural sector.
Scope
This project will consult with the agricultural machinery and mobile plant industries to review the AUR30420 Certificate III in Agricultural Mechanical Technology with a view to establishing an Agricultural Mechanical Technology specialisation within the AUR31220 Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology qualification. Consultation will determine whether the agricultural machinery workforce is best served by a specialisation within AUR31220, rather than maintaining a separate qualification, in line with DEWR qualification reform objectives.

Scope
This project will develop a unit of competency and skill set, designed to raise safety awareness and safe work practices for workers operating in environments where electric vehicles (EVs) and rechargeable energy storage systems (RESS) are present.
AUSMASA will consult across the mining, automotive, motorsport, manufacturing and transport sectors to develop nationally recognised training products for non-technical staff working around EVs and RESS.

Prioritisation: Complex. This project includes a review of an existing qualification and associated training products, as well as the potential development of new units of competency and a skill set.
Purpose: This qualification is intended for marine mechanical technicians, providing the skills and knowledge to inspect, diagnose, service and repair marine engines, propulsion systems and associated mechanical and electrical systems in recreational, commercial and light industrial marine vessels.
Scope
This project will consult with the marine industry to review the AUR30520 Certificate III in Marine Mechanical Technology, address structural gaps, and ensure a skilled workforce across modern marine service environments, including vessels with integrated electronic, hydraulic, and digitally controlled systems.

Scope
This project will review and update existing drilling qualifications to ensure alignment with current and future workforce needs. This includes developing skill sets to support water well licensing requirements and updating the core of qualifications for superseded units of competency.

Prioritisation: Complex: The development of a new AQF Level 7 qualification requires significant cross-industry input.
Purpose: This qualification will be designed to develop cross-sectoral skills and knowledge for application across industries.
Scope
This project will co-design an AQF Level 7 Vocational Degree in Reliability Engineering for the mining sector based on the foundational research and consultation undertaken in phases 1 and 2. Collaborating with training providers, industry, regulators, unions and peak bodies, the new qualification will align with national priorities and address identified skills shortages.

Purpose: The qualification is designed to produce graduates for a specific occupation.
Scope
This project will review and update the existing Electric Vehicle qualification and Battery Electric Vehicle Skill Sets to ensure alignment with current and future workforce needs.

Prioritisation: Routine. The project timeframe reflects the need for strong consultation, potential revisions to existing units of competency and/or development of new units of competency.
Purpose: This qualification is intended for technicians working across multiple occupations in the automotive, mobile plant and mining sectors, providing the skills and knowledge required to service and maintain increasingly electrified and technologically advanced machinery.
Scope
This project will review and update AUR31220 Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology to ensure that future workers develop the necessary skills for the evolving mobile plant sectors, including complex electrical systems and instrumentation.

Prioritisation: Routine. The project timeframe reflects the need for strong consultation, potential revisions to existing units of competency and/or development of new units of competency.
Purpose: This qualification and/or its units of competency are used for determining eligibility for various automotive air conditioning licenses.
Scope
The project will review and update key units of competency within AUR20220 Certificate II in Automotive Air Conditioning Technology to reflect the skills and knowledge required for the safe handling of highly flammable refrigerant gases in automotive systems.

Prioritisation: Routine. Development of new units of competency reflecting the statutory role of mine site supervisors and managers will require input from multiple stakeholders. Additionally, the review of existing units of competency that are shared between AUSMASA and BuildSkills Australia who each represent different sectors, requires capacity for deep and cross sectoral consultation.
Scope
This training product development activity will address mine site supervision competencies in the RII Resource and Infrastructure Industry Training Package particularly around managing risks and issues concerned with high-level health, safety or environment matters. In addition to reviewing existing units, the activity will create training products appropriately aligned with legislative requirements for risk mitigation and management on mine sites.

Prioritisation: Routine. The project is aimed at clarifying the appropriate performance evidence requirements for the work described in the unit of competency. No complexities are anticipated.

The project will consult nationally to review and revise AURVTN120 Remove and replace major welded panels on vehicles.

Scope
This project will consult with stakeholders to develop new Training Products for the AUR – Automotive Retail, Service and Repair Training Package that reflect the skills and knowledge required by a range of automotive occupations to calibrate ADAS in vehicles following servicing, replacement or repair work.

AUSMASA will collaborate with BuildSkills on this project, as some of the training products have implications for stakeholders in the mining sector and civil construction.

Prioritisation: Fast track. The training product update is important given the health and safety implications and consequences for graduates who potentially are employed on mine sites.
Scope
This project will consult with stakeholders to review and update the current Automotive Tyre Servicing Technology Training Products for the AUR – Automotive Retail, Service and Repair Training Package.
The primary focus will be the review of AUR21920 – Certificate II in Automotive Tyre Servicing Technology, however, because many of the units of competency from this qualification are used in other qualifications, there will be implications for multiple other qualifications.

Prioritisation: Routine. H2-FCEVs are an emerging technology, and by commencing development work now, AUSMASA can ensure as the need for trained H2-FCEV Technicians increases there will be nationally recognised Training Products available for RTOs to deliver to meet the needs of industry.

This project will consult with stakeholders to develop new Training Products for the AUR – Automotive Retail, Service and Repair Training Package for the safe handling and maintenance of H2-FCEV components.

Scope
This project will undertake a desktop review of qualifications to identify which superseded units of competency are listed in current qualifications and skill sets from these training packages:

AUM – Automotive Manufacturing Training Package
RII – Resources and Infrastructure Training Package (Mining)
We will consult with stakeholders to propose updating qualifications with relevant current units of competency in place of any superseded units.

Prioritisation: Routine. Training products need to be updated but the change is not urgent or complex based on industry intelligence and analysis.
Scope
This project will undertake a desktop review of enrolment data from 2019-2023 to identify training products that have had low or no enrolments from these training packages:

AUM – Automotive Manufacturing Training Package
RII – Resources and Infrastructure Training Package (Mining)
We will consult with stakeholders to identify the root cause of enrolment numbers and explore options for redressing issues.
