Research

Research and workforce planning sit at the core of AUSMASA's work.
It underpins our training development, implementation, promotion, and monitoring, and industry stewardship, ensuring our priorities are evidence-based and aligned with current and emerging industry needs.

Intelligence to support a future-ready workforce

AUSMASA's Workforce Plan is our flagship research publication. It draws on robust industry consultation and rigorous data analysis to identify the priorities shaping Australia's mining and automotive industries.

The 2026 Plan 'Workforces in Transition' examines immediate workforce challenges and long-term structural changes, including recruitment and retention, aging workforces, gender diversity, technological advancements, decarbonisation, and electrification.

The Plan informs AUSMASA's training development, policy submissions and industry engagement, providing the evidence base that directs our work and supports industry planning.
