The occupations for which career maps to be delivered are:
-
351434 EV Technician
-
351131 Automotive Technician
-
631432 Motor Vehicle Parts Interpreter
-
811531 Vehicle Detailer
-
351331 Panelbeater
-

351433 Diesel Technician
-
899431 Motor Vehicle Parts and Accessories Fitter (General)
-
631432 Motor Vehicle Parts Interpreter
-

For the following occupations: 351434 EV Technician, 351151 Automotive Technician, 351331 Panelbeater, 351433 Diesel Technician, and 899431 Motor Vehicle Parts and Accessories Fitter (General), the project will produce career maps that distinguish between careers at larger and smaller employers.
These maps will reflect distinctions in career progression and recruitment challenges between the two types of employers. This output will be based on a focused and appropriate engagement strategy, and the distinction can be extended to regional and metro employers, if research uncovers significant differences beyond those between larger and smaller employers.
The broad aims of the work will be to:
-
identify and promote, via AUSMASA’s stakeholders, diversity in the automotive workforce
-
map practitioner journeys across education, training and employment in the automotive sector, both highlighting linear and non-linear pathways. Example paths could show real opportunities for skills and experience transferability through case studies
-
identify any gaps in the vocational education and training framework that could limit employment transitions
-
identify barriers, equity gaps, and sector-specific opportunities to promote career pathways in the automotive sector for a range of occupations
-
enable the industry to promote pathways and automotive careers by using and disseminating these resources.
