Project status
Stage 1 has commenced and is due for completion in March 2026.
Key stages of the work
Stage 1 includes:
Developing a consultation strategy, establishing a Technical Committee, targeted consultation with stakeholders, reviewing and providing feedback on Training Products.
Drafting revised Training Products addressing knowledge and skills requirements, and where agreed, developing new Training Products for safely handling new and flammable refrigerant gases.
Period: October 2025 – March 2026
Stage 2 includes:
Drafting Training Products released for public and government consultation, for a minimum 4-week period.
Period: April 2026
Stage 3 includes:
- Implementing feedback and drafting the final Training Products.
- Consulting with commonwealth or state and territory Senior Responsible Officers (SROs).
- Conducting a final compliance check of the products and preparation of the Training Products for submission to the Assurance Body.
Period: May – July 2026
Stage 4 includes:
- Submitting Training Products to the Assurance Body.
- Uploading endorsed Training Products to the National Training Register, following endorsement of the Training Products by Skills Ministers.
Period: August – September 2026
Stage 5 includes:
Promoting, implementing and monitoring the endorsed Training Products.
Period: October – December 2026
