Project overview
Developing new Training Products so they reflect the skills required for safely handling automotive refrigerant gases.
This project is reviewing and updating key units of competency in AUR20220 Certificate II Automotive Air Conditioning Technology.
It aims to ensure they reflect the range of skills and knowledge required to safely handle new and flammable refrigerant gases, and that the qualification is fit for purpose, meeting current and future industry requirements.
During the project's consultations, we will seek stakeholder feedback to determine if the following training products should be updated:
- AUR20220 Certificate II Automotive Air Conditioning Technology
- AURETU001 Install air conditioning systems
- AURETU102 Recover vehicle refrigerants
- AURETU104 Diagnose and repair air conditioning and HVAC systems
- AURETU105 Retrofit automotive air conditioning and HVAC system
- AURETU007 Overhaul air conditioning and HVAC system compressors
- AURETU103 Service air conditioning and HVAC systems
- AURSS00041 Vehicle Air Conditioning Install and Overhaul Skill Set
- AURSS00042 Vehicle Air Conditioning Installation Skill Set
This project will commence in October 2025 and is due for completion in September 2026.
Expression of Interest (EOI) - Technical Committee (TC) Application

Applications to join the TC will be assessed according to the following criteria:
- range of skills and knowledge in refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
- range of skills and knowledge required for handling the new and more highly flammable refrigerant gases.
- previous committee/advisory panel experience.
- capacity to commit the time required by the TC.
- willingness to collaborate with other TC members to achieve the objectives of the project.
