Adding a new occupation to OSCA

This form is for adding a new Automotive or Mining occupation in the Occupation Standard Classification for Australia (OSCA - formerly known as ANZSCO).

If you are seeking to split an existing occupation(s) to form a new occupation, use this form for the new occupation you seek to split away and the Updating an Existing Occupation in OSCA form to update the main occupation(s) from which the new occupation is splitting away.

  • It is not uncommon for a new occupation to be a consolidation of the splitting of more than one occupation.  This form accommodates that, but if this is the case you will need to use more than one Updating an Existing Occupation in OSCA form to recognise there are changes to more than one 'parent' existing occupation.
  • To add an occupation there needs to be evidence of at least 300 instances of this occupation in the workforce – See https://www.abs.gov.au/statistics/standards/occupation-standard/latest-release
  • If you are only seeking to update an existing occupation or to retire an occupation in OSCA use the Updating an Existing Occupation in OSCA form please.
  • Please assist us, where you can, at the end of the form by nominating the key skills required for the occupation (as opposed to the tasks performed) and the % of the time that skill is used in the undertaking the occupation.
  • Note compulsory fields are marked with a *
